Gweta?aghunt’i!

Welcome to my site. My name is Amy Cote. I’m a mother, wife,  daughter, grand daughter, aunty, friend, and a teacher Candidate. I was born and raised on a small community west of Williams Lake, Yunesit’in Government (Stone Reserve). My first language is the Nenqyni Chi Language (Chilcotin Language) which is a one of the Athabascan languages.

My parents are Rosalie Montgomery and David Setah

My Maternal grandparents are Johnny Montgomery and Marie Montgomery

My paternal grandparents are William Setah and Madeline Setah,

I was blessed to be raised with the traditional teachings, and the Tsilhot’in language of our people. Being raised in such a loving environment, I knew that one day I wanted to give back to our people by teaching them the wonderful things I have been taught. I didn’t know that it was going to be a form as a teacher because it is something that has come natural to me my entire life.

So far in my Education journey I was given the opportunity to present in the West Cast Conference in February 2020 with a focus on “Modeling Indigenous Teachings to Teachers”. This chance to speak from my heart has given me the drive to continue my research on Indigenizing Education.

Sechanelyagh (Thank you) for visiting my site.
